Chiltern Saxes by Howarth - a new design for the times!

We have many years of experience in sampling and assessing saxophones of all levels and we thought it was time we put all this knowledge to good use! Due to the rising demands of our customers and the difficulties of current economic conditions we have developed a practical, affordable and beautiful range of new professional saxophones - the Chiltern by Howarth. These instruments have been manufactured to a high standard using the latest techniques of instrument manufacture.

It’s very important for you to feel proud of the instrument that you are playing and to be happy with the way it performs. We have carefully chosen a stylish and fashionable range of finishes, including some classic and some slightly more contemporary looks. In addition all Chiltern saxophones are elegantly engraved.

Chiltern Saxophones are available as sopranino, straight soprano and saxello, alto with large or small bell, tenor and baritone. All models are available in the following finishes, but please contact us for precise availability, as some are more popular than others:

  • The Gold Lacquer finish is the standard saxophone finish. The gold is light and rich in colour
  • The Vintage finish is very fashionable at the moment, with a matt base and shaded areas. It looks amazing under spot lights and doesn’t seem to get finger prints!
  • The Dark Vintage Copper finish is a variation on the vintage finish and gives the saxophone a rustic look. It’s really warm and beautiful.
  • The Black Plate finish makes a statement. It looks contemporary and seductive, and says ‘my saxophone really is this cool’.
  • The Gold Ice finish has a matte gold-plated body with gold-plated keys. The look is chic and stately, understated yet stunning.

The Chilterns are being used by players such as Simon Allen, with bands like Madness and with Paolo Nutini's band on ‘Later with Jools Holland’. Our baritone is currently being used by pro London session player Phil Todd in the pit of the West End production of ‘Hairspray’. Clearly able to deal with pro use, they are in tune, easy to blow, great sounding and really good fun to play.

Call Stuart James or Phil Evans in the Sax Department on 020 7935 2407 for all the latest on these great new saxes! Or you can send an e-mail.
