Mönnig Bass (Baritone) Oboe 190LF with Howarth thumbplate

Howarth is delighted to stock this very unusual member of the double reed family. Mönnig have made a number of radical technical innovations to make this rarest of musical instruments truly extraordinary. Made from specially selected Curly Maple wood (traditionally the wood of choice for the bassoon), the instrument is comparatively light in weight, whilst the unusual bell shape improves resonance, producing a rich and full tone across the registers.

A fully professional model, the Mönnig bass oboe has full gillet system keywork, semi-automatic octaves, 3rd octave key and covered holes. A fully automatic instrument is available to special order. The instrument is supplied with two crooks, case, cover and accessories.

We have a Conservatoire model in stock, which can be converted to have an English Thumbplate added at the point of purchase.
